Behavior chart
Behavior charts go wrong when they grade a child’s personality in public. If you use one, track a few specific actions (shoes off, voice level in the car) and keep it out of the sibling comparison Olympics.
Chores should not be on the same scoring system as “didn’t hit.” Mixing them teaches kids that dishes are a moral failing.
A safer design
Private or low-drama. Same-day reset. No public red/green traffic lights at dinner. Pair with skills you can teach, not traits you wish they had.
