Screen time as a chore reward

Screens are already the household currency. Pretending otherwise just moves the argument. Put the exchange rate on paper: jobs by a clock time, then the device window opens.

The clock time is the whole trick. “After chores” with no hour becomes midnight.

A simple rule

Daily row complete by 5pm (or whatever your after-school window is) unlocks the evening screen block. Incomplete row means the block waits until the row is done — not until tomorrow, not a weekend ban.

Keep school devices separate if you can

Homework Chromebooks and recreational tablets are different species. If they share a machine, use a mode or a time limit so a chore consequence does not also cancel studying.

Questions parents ask

Use a different privilege: friend time, later bedtime, or a small allowance. The chart should attach to something they already want.
