Chore ideas for elementary kids
Elementary is the sweet spot for charts. Kids can read a grid, care about stars, and still think checking a box is a little bit fun — until the list gets long.
Aim for a mix: two or three daily resets and two weekly jobs so weekends do not become a surprise inspection.
Daily
Make bed, unpack backpack, lunchbox rinse, table set or clear, pet food, ten-minute living room tidy.
Weekly
Vacuum their room, fold towels, bathroom sink, recycling, match socks, wipe the car’s back seat.
What to skip for now
Oven cleaning, mowing, chemical bathroom deep-cleans, and “keep your brother quiet.” Those are either unsafe or unpaid childcare.
