Eight can do work you can feel in the house. That is also when they compare jobs with friends and declare yours unfair. Keep the list public and stable.
A bathroom sink is a better first bathroom job than a toilet. Teach chemicals like you teach bikes: gear, then independence.

How to run the week
This is a prime age for screen-time-as-privilege if you are going to do it. Write the cutoff hour.
Rotate a “family job” weekly so they see work outside their bedroom.
Reward idea: Allowance commission or a weekend privilege.
