Laundry chore chart
Laundry fails as a single chore named “laundry.” It is five chores. Put the ones your child owns on the page and stop pretending the rest is also theirs.
A chair that eats clean clothes is not a system. A basket plus a put-away row is.
Stages
Write water temperature and “no tissues in pockets” on the card. Machines are not mind readers.
- Hamper (2+)
- Match socks / fold washcloths (4–7)
- Put away their pile (6+)
- Start a load with a wall card (11+)
- Full cycle including hanging (12+)
Questions parents ask
- Whose job is the leftover basket?
- Whoever lives there. A weekly “empty the orphan basket” row saves marriages. That is not a joke.
